BIS Board extends term for Jerome H Powell as chair of two key central bank groups

- Jerome H Powell, Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, is to continue as Chair of the Global Economy Meeting (GEM) and the Economic Consultative Committee (ECC)
- Mr Powell's term will run until 31 January 2026
- The GEM and the ECC are among the principal meetings held at the BIS every two months
The Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) announced that Jerome H Powell, Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, was reappointed as chair of two key central bank groups, the Global Economy Meeting (GEM) and the Economic Consultative Committee (ECC), after consultations with members of the GEM.
The GEM and the ECC are among the principal meetings held at the BIS every two months. This will be Mr Powell's second three-year term as chair, starting on 1 February 2023. He was first appointed on 1 February 2020.
