BIS-Bank of England-CEPR workshop on "Financial innovation: implications for competition, regulation and monetary policy"
Virtual meeting hosted by the BIS on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 September 2020
The 10th BIS Research Network meeting took place on 24 and 25 September 2020, bringing together researchers from academia and central banks around the theme "Financial innovation: implications for competition, regulation and monetary policy". Organised jointly with the Bank of England and CEPR, the first session focused on how financial innovation affects financial stability and competition, while the second assessed the effects on financial inclusion and the implications for regulation. Hyun Song Shin discussed the governance of money with lessons from an early stablecoin - the Bank of Amsterdam. The closing policy panel debated policy implications of financial innovation.
