Services Operator, Meeting Services
I was born in Angola and brought up in Lisbon, where my family moved. I came to Switzerland in 2002 and took a gastronomy course in Zurich before moving to Basel. After working in a restaurant and helping to organise banquets for a few years, I joined the BIS Meeting Services, the unit that is responsible for organising international meetings with central banks and regulators from all over the world. Making sure that all meetings and events organised by the BIS run smoothly is our top priority.
As a Service Operator, I support the team organising all meetings held at the BIS in Basel, for example preparing the meeting rooms, welcoming our guests and arranging the coffee breaks. Outside meetings, I also help with our conference booking system and the control room electronics.
Living in the city of Basel I personally find to be very special. The city borders on Germany and France, giving me a chance to use several languages, which fits well in this multi-cultural city. Basel has a wonderful infrastructure - it is the only city in Switzerland with three main train stations - and it is packed with museums. It also has a wonderful zoo and a yearly series of international fairs such as Basel World and Art Basel, which bring people from different walks of life together.
