BIS Innovation Hub Centre - Toronto
The Toronto Innovation Centre was established in June 2024 in collaboration with the Bank of Canada.
Our centre
The Toronto Innovation Centre focus is on developing the basic infrastructure needed to enable new technology and innovation in the financial system, helping to close the gap that now exists in access to financial services in many jurisdictions.
As the first BIS Innovation Hub centre in the Americas, our goal is to support the development of public goods for central banks throughout the region. Based in the heart of Toronto, one of the world's most diverse, inclusive and innovative cities, we are neighbours with world-class research universities and innovation labs, Canada's leading financial institutions and a vibrant fintech culture.
The Toronto Innovation Hub Centre is therefore well-placed to identify key technology trends, to experiment and innovate and to contribute to the improved functioning of the global financial system.
Watch the Toronto Centre opening ceremony featuring remarks by General Manager Agustín Carstens, Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem, BIS Innovation Hub Head Cecilia Skingsley and the Head of the new Centre, Miguel Díaz, followed by two panel discussions on the future of finance and on open finance and innovation.
