BIS inaugurates Andrew Crockett Memorial Lecture

At its Annual General Meeting in Basel, Switzerland today, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) commemorated the life of the late Sir Andrew Crockett, the Bank's General Manager from 1994 to 2003.

As part of this event, the BIS has inaugurated a biennial Andrew Crockett Memorial Lecture. "We chose this way of remembering Andrew," said Jaime Caruana, BIS General Manager, "because he relished nothing more than a vigorous debate about the economic and financial issues of the day."

The first Andrew Crockett Memorial Lecture was delivered today by Raghuram Rajan, Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago and Chief Economic Adviser at the Indian Ministry of Finance.
